Studio shoot ; Home-made Backdrop

For my studio shoot, I went with the plain black backdrop. I edited this picture in lightroom with brightening it a little. I sharpened it a bit, and then edited some spots in photoshop with clone stamp.
I edited this entire picture in lightroom. I adjusted the color settings to black and white an then messed around with the temperature until I got the temperature I wanted.
I edited this in lightroom; I changed it to the preset Sepia tone, and then played with the highlights, darks, shadows, and exposure in order for the picture to be well balanced.
In lightroom, I changed the color tone to black and white and then changed the temperature.

Scale and Perspective

I originally took a picture of a flower, and then took a picture of my sister on the same day so the temperature was similar. In lightroom I adjusted everything about both of the pictures and then went into photoshop to put the whole entire thing together.
I edited this in Lightroom by simply boosting the colors and contrast. Two toy cars are watching a movie on an iPhone as if they were at a drive-in.
Because of the size of Mickey Mouse's figure as opposed to the samurai doll, I saw the scale of each and made the samurai look bigger than it really is.

Shadows

 Pattern onto something
I edited this in lightroom, and lowered the exposure a little bit and then sharpened it.

 Distortion
All I did in LR was convert it to black and white.
I didn't have a silhouette picture...So I edited this in LR by changing it to black and white.

Shadow Practice

Silhouette - I changed the tone to a sepia tone and then made the blacks stand out a bit more so I could get the right amount of black to get the silhouette  I wanted.

I had my group hold the light on the side of Matt's face and then we had a pattern in front of the light so it would shadow onto Matt's face.
I set up the dinosaurs in a way where I could have the light in a certain direction for the shadows to be distorted.

Color Project - Different Color Groups

I used the direct positive preset on lightroom before I began editing even more. I sharpened, highlighted, recovered, and boosted up the exposure to get my final result. This falls under the neutral color group because brown is not on the color wheel.

(Edited on Light Room) I reduced the fill light, increased the blacks a little bit, decreased the vibrance and saturation and then I boosted the exposure and recovery.
I barely edited this picture on lightroom, all I did was sharpen it a little bit, and then boosted the color...this falls under the analogous color group because these are the colors of fall.
As I edited this, I boosted the reds so the red could come out a bit more than it did before, and then I sharpened the picture. Red is complementary to green, therefore it falls under the complementary color group.

Color Backgrounds

The lighting is fluorescent. The different color backgrounds exaggerate the colors of the slinky.

Juxtaposition (March 2012)

This follows under the juxtaposition concept because of the Golden Gate Bridge and the "Caution" sign. While the Golden Gate Bridge is known to be a beautiful landmark in California, the Caution reveals the "ugly" within San Francisco. "The Beauty and then The Ugly."
I took this photo on a gloomy day in the city; I lowered down the saturation on the yellow as well as the orange. Then I brightened the contrast.
Big and small.
While editting this photo, I used some cross process as well as boosting up the saturation and sharpening it a bit more.

While everybody is doing the same move, there is that one boy that is doing the opposite, as well as there are people practicing their own routine.
While editting this photo, I converted it to black and white, and I made the shadows more noticeable.

The trees are all matching, and there are people contradicting the tree's "pattern."
I didn't really use much editting on this, however I did make the sky a little more bluer.

self portraits

In the past, I was very involved with band, dedicating at least two to three hours of my time everyday in middle school to perfecting any musical piece that was given to me. To this day, I still wish I was involved in band the way I was in middle school - I received two of the top music awards in middle school upon graduation. I also represented my middle school three times at a state level, which was known to be very scarce for a 6th grader to be at competition musician level. Although I don't play the clarinet for the school band, I still find time to express myself by practicing the clarinet at home by just somehow "forgetting" the world as my mind is lost to the sound of music.
The first time I ever picked up a camera and took serious shots was when I was in the 8th grade. I never thought I would end up with such advantage in photography now; I plan on pursuing it as I grow older - maybe eventually doing it as a side job in the future.

In the future, I am praying to get accepted and attend the University of California Berkeley. If not Berkeley, then there are always other superior schools out there to attend. (:

light project

Diffusion across the sky because of the sun setting. Edited using lightroom; sharpened, adjusted the contrast, and watermarked.
Chiaroscuro effect; there's still light, yet also a shadow pattern from the building. Originally taken in color - edited using Lightroom; switched to black and white, adjusted the contrast and the light.
Radiance; there are sun rays emitting through the trees. Already taken in black and white, only adjusted the sun rays for more radiance.
Illumination; filled with light, yet has the glowing effect. Originally in color, just switched over to black and white. Softened a bit, and focused more on the face itself.
